📧 SMTP Settings
Gmail Setup Instructions
- Go to your Google Account → Security
- Enable 2-Step Verification if not already on
- Go to App passwords (search "App passwords" in Google Account)
- Select "Mail" and your device, then click Generate
- Copy the 16-character password and paste it in the SMTP Password field below
- Use your full Gmail address for both SMTP Username and From Email
- In Brevo: go to Settings → API Keys and copy your key
- Paste it below, fill in From Name + From Email + Teacher Email, then Save & Test
- Leave SMTP fields blank — the API key takes priority
SMTP fields below are only needed if you're not using a Brevo API key.
📨 Inbound Email (IMAP)
Enable IMAP to sync email replies back into platform message threads. When someone replies to a notification email, their reply appears in the conversation on the platform.
- SMTP must be working first (outgoing emails are required)
- Enter the same credentials as SMTP, or leave blank to reuse them
- Set the Reply-To address to the same email monitored by IMAP
- For Gmail: enable IMAP in Gmail Settings, and use an App Password
- Click "Test IMAP" to verify the connection works
This must be an inbox your IMAP credentials can access. Use {} as a placeholder for the message token. For Gmail, use youremail+{}@gmail.com — Gmail delivers plus-addressed mail to the same inbox.
